It is all over the news. Democrats are receiving what appears to be explosive devices in the mail. They are outraged. Maybe even scared. Or so they say.
Hillary Clinton stated that to have civility back, Democrats must win the mid-term elections. What did she mean? Vote the right way, or else? Was that a threat?
Democrats relish the boycotts of Republicans in restaurants, stores, and even the streets. They do not mind violence and division. “You are not welcome here!” “We don’t want you!”
Careful, the unwelcomes may start pushing back…
For two years now, since we elected a president that was Not a politician, politicians are at a loss. They are fighting dirty to keep their privileges in place. Democrats are acting like sour losers, trying as hard as they can to disturb the peace, asking for revolt, applauding misbehavior, sanctioning looting, silencing different points of view, and dividing people. Races. Genders. Ethnicities. Religious Beliefs. All issues are manipulated to point to our differences. It is becoming unacceptable to differ in ideology and still be friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors.
They opened a door that should have been left closed, its key lost. What were they shouting through the media just last week? Fight! Do not accept! This President should be impeached! Disrespect him and all he stands for! Disrespect the Others! Republicans are Deplorables! Unite in hate against them!
There must be some intelligent people in these political parties. Don’t they get that voting for Trump was voting against the establishment? It was voting against the politicians. It was voting against Ms. Clinton, the Elite, the One so above us commoners.
We voted for one of us. We did not vote for a party. We voted Trump.
But maybe they do get it, and this is what scares them the most. One of us cannot be allowed there. Washington must belong to politicians. Politicians are big money-making companies’ best friends, and together they should keep Absolute Power. The Establishment must stay in place. Power cannot change hands. We, the People, are nothing but puppets. Too bad we vote… democracy is such a pain… but all is not lost. There is “Divide and Rule” as the ultimate weapon!
Politics. For votes, nothing is off limit. Violence. Distrust. Division. Hate. Chaos. These are what the politicians have been sowing for years. It may work for them still. We may still end up fighting with each other. But… why? Why should we do that? Why should we all get mad at each other? For whom? Who would win that fight? A political party?
After so many lies, so many hate speeches, so many different contradicting stories, what are we supposed to believe now?
Are the explosive devices even real? Or is it a media story? Were they sent by Democrats to influence the mid-term elections? Were they sent by a Republican nut case that had enough being bullied and belittled?
Who knows? And even after all will be said and done, after the news will tell us who did it and why, will that be the truth?
Wouldn’t it be the ultimate irony, the ultimate justice, that after being played with for so long, we finally realize that indeed, we, the People, are the same, and that the distrust should not be with one another, but maybe us against them all in the swamp?
We are Americans together. We want our country to do good. We want safe streets to roam. We want clean living conditions. We want jobs. We want living wages. We want a good education for our children. We want affordable options for our healthcare. We want to be accepted as we are. We want fair treatment. We want equality. We want peace. We want a future for the next generations.
How we believe we can obtain what we want is the only division between us. It makes for lively discussions. It will be all right. Together we can figure it all out. At the end of the day, we are humans trying to live the best life we can.
It is time for politicians to remember that we vote them in to work for us. It is time for politicians to remember that our tax money pays for their salaries, their benefits, their retirement pensions. It is time for politicians to remember that they are not above us. It is time for politicians to wake up, believe that we are more united than divided, and start acting accordingly.
We, the People, have been and continue to take care of you, the Politicians. Time for you to take care of us. Do the jobs you were elected to do.
Above all, beware of what you sow. You may not like what you reap.
