I will not blame Amazon.com for the closure of brick-and-mortar stores. That blame lies solely on the customer. Why bother going out and shopping like we used to when there is the 1-click setting and Prime delivery?
The fact is that stores do disappear, and Amazon.com continues to grow.
But I will blame Amazon.com for replacing humans in its warehouses by robots.
If stores close, and sales associates disappear, at least these sales associates could still hope for a job in one of Amazon’s warehouses. Not quite the same occupation, but close enough. Now, if these jobs are being taken by robots, what are these people supposed to do to earn a living?
Amazon is rich enough already, and richer by the day. Why does it need to become ugly by eliminating low paying jobs? Is there no end to greed?
And this greed, how smart is it? Less jobs available to people equals less people working and earning a living. Less people working, more taxes are needed from the people still working to support the ones not working. Less money to go around and available to be spent by workers as well as non-workers.
What is the future for Amazon.com and other giants that think that more technology is the answer to get richer then? What will they do with all that technology when there will be no more shoppers?
